Jane Whitaker, age 69, passed away suddenly at her home in Wellington, Florida on Saturday, April 18. 2020. Jane was born on September 8, 1950 in Lincolnton, North Carolina. She married her beloved husband, Edward Whitaker on February 27, 1981. Jane attended Lenoir Rhyne University in Hickory, North Carolina. She was a valued teacher at Lake Worth High School in Lake Worth Florida from 1975 until 2004, when she retired. Jane was honored as a “Who’s Who Among Americans Teachers” recipient. Jane was an avid reader and crossword puzzle solver. She loved her cats, Paul McCartney and the theatre. Jane enjoyed travelling and was a dedicated fan of the Tarheels and the Miami Dolphins. Her sense of humor will be greatly missed by all who knew her. Jane is survived by her husband, Edward Whitaker. She is also survived by her niece, Susan Newman and her nephew, Chuck Hipp, both of South Carolina. National Cremation Services of West Palm Beach is handling the arrangements. There is no service planned at this time due to current quarantine conditions. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Peggy Adams Animal Rescue League.
